Application notes

  • All international tourists must pay a daily Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) of USD 100 in addition to the visa application fee
  • Visa applications are processed by the Department of Immigration in Thimphu and must be pre-arranged before travel
  • Travelers are required to book their trip through a licensed Bhutanese tour operator or hotel, who will process the visa application on their behalf
  • A valid travel insurance policy covering the entire duration of the stay is mandatory for entry
  • Apply at least four weeks before the intended date of travel to ensure timely processing of the visa clearance letter
