Visa exemption

No visa exemption exists for Pakistani passport holders; a B1/B2 visa is required for all tourism purposes regardless of holding a Schengen visa

Application notes

  • Pakistani passport holders require a B1/B2 visa for entry; holding a Schengen visa does not grant visa-free access or an expedited pathway to the United States
  • All applicants must complete the DS-160 online nonimmigrant visa application form
  • Applicants must schedule and attend an in-person interview at the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad or the U.S. Consulate General in Karachi
  • The MRV fee is non-refundable and non-transferable
  • Applicants should apply well in advance of their intended travel date due to potential wait times for interview appointments
  • Proof of strong ties to Pakistan is critical to demonstrate intent to return after the visit
